LinkedIn has implemented new video updates to enhance the visibility of video posts in the feed and improve video discoverability across its search features, as video content continues to expand on the platform, with a reported 36% year-over-year increase in watch time.

LinkedIn is initially integrating its full-screen, vertical video display format into the desktop environment, thereby enhancing the compatibility of the desktop video experience with its mobile application.

According to LinkedIn:

“Following a successful mobile ramp, we are excited to bring our full-screen video experience and ‘Videos for you’ module to web. Now viewers can select any video in the feed or within ‘Videos for You’ then swipe or click through to discover more video content, whether that’s on their desktop or mobile device.”

Mobile users of LinkedIn may enjoy a full-screen video experience similar to that of TikTok, where they can scroll vertically through an immersive stream of video snippets. To further emphasize its dedication to video content, LinkedIn is now seeking to deliver this same experience on the web.

Also, after previewing the functionality in December of last year, LinkedIn is now testing out a bigger video display in its mobile app. Additionally, a new feature that displays a user’s video uploads in a condensed profile view is being introduced to the site.

LinkedIn is also trying out a follow button that is easier to see in the full-screen video player. Improving discovery continues to be a primary objective, as the platform is also attempting to bring more video content to the forefront of search results. Furthermore, LinkedIn is rolling out new video analytics, which will provide users with more information about how each video is performing. This includes data on the average watch time. Finally, LinkedIn has launched new LinkedIn Learning courses that are intended to assist users in getting the most out of their video content.
